A Teaser and some News

It's about that time again, time to hit the road and meet with my spectacular Arizona Brides. I was just packing up my car and thought I would pop in on the ol' blog here and let you all know what's going on with Marianne Wilson Photography.

I am so excited to say that my new blog is in the works and is going to be spectacular. I have the awesome designers of H2 blog design working on it now and it should really capture what Marianne Wilson Photography is about. So keep and look out for the launch of that in the next few weeks (at a brand new URL too!) along with a gorgeous boudoir and wedding post to kick it off! Also you may have noticed my portfolio site (Http://www.MarianneWilsonPhotography.com) going through some changes as well. I am sprucing it up a bit and adding some new features and design. I am also working on a new price list design and information booklet for new Marianne Wilson Photography brides. Because who doesn't love some great information in a chic booklet?

In more personal news Joe and I recently got a puppy and her name is Penny. We think she is about 4 months old and rescued her from a shelter 2 weeks ago. We just love her to bits! She is adorable and as sweet as can be. We think she might be a Jindo but since she is a rescue we don't quite know. All we know is that she is awesome and I love having her sweet little self around while I edit and write e-mails. Here are some photos I snapped of her right after we brought her home (don't mind her sad face, she had a respiratory infection and giardia that is all cleared up now!).

Wedding: Michael + Desiree At Hartley Botanica

Desiree and Michael were one of the first clients to book me over a year in advance. How time flies! Almost all the bookings I do now are 10-16 months in advance! Their wedding marked a stepping stone in my business. I was so honored that they shared their very special wedding day with me. I was also excited to shoot at Hartley Botanica in Somis, CA. I have 2nd shot there a few times and absolutely love the location, very fairytale like.

Back to Desiree and Mike! They got married August 16th at Hartley and if I could describe their wedding in one word it would be joyous. Now, all weddings are joyous but Des and Mike's was filled to the brim with joy. Dancing, blessings, tradition, and smiles were all around. It was also a very educational experience and I was glad that they were so eager and willing to share and explain their traditions with me. I also absolutely loved the colors a sun shiny yellow and gorgeous purple with hints of green and pink worked perfectly with Hartley's plush greenery.

Just over two weeks ago I received an inquiry from the contact form on my site. The e-mails go directly to my phone so I always run over to a computer as fast as I can. Yes, I still get that excited.

From the moment I read Jessica's response to the "Where did you find me?" Question I knew she was my type of bride. Aside from being full of smiley faces and exclamations(two things I probably use too frequently in e-mails) she stated that she found me through a "Serendipitous Google search." I thought "I like this gal already!"

I noticed she was in Arizona, Tucson to be exact. I immediately ran to my calendar (which isn't hard cause it's on my computer) and figured out the next time I would be making the jaunt to the good ol' AZ. In a week! Perfect! I let Jessica know that I was going to be able to meet and we decided to start with her and Adams engagement session since Adam is leaving for grad school in just a few short weeks. Everything just seemed to work out so perfectly.

We met up last Saturday in downtown Tucson and ventured out for their e-session. It was a hot day (107 ouch!) but we survived, had a blast, and got some rad photos doing it. I simply cannot wait for their wedding next August at the Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson.

Senior Session: Hannah In Wonderland (Tempe AZ?)

Wow! The past few weeks have been full of shooting and traveling! It doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon either. I love getting to go all over to shoot!

Yesterday I got back from a weekend filled with: my 2 yr old niece, A senior Session, An Engagement Session, painting, and a whole lot of driving! I cannot wait to share all the photos with you from my recent shoots.

Today we start with the amazingly nice and beautiful Hannah (or Hbug as she is affectionately known). Hannah is a real southern gal hailing from Tennessee. She happened to be out in Arizona the same weekend I was out to shoot an engagement session and meet with my AZ brides so we decided we would go ahead and do her Senior session there!

We loosely played with the idea of Alice in Wonderland for her shoot because she looks so much like Alice! At least I think she does...

So here are some of my personal favorites from our Session in Mesa and Tempe Arizona.

Whew! It was a really fun session if you couldn't tell.

Life is busy and fantastic! I am currently recovering from a weekend of 3 weddings! What a blast!

I just wanted to update everyone and let you know I have a ton of blog posts in the works and I am writing and editing whenever I have a free moment. Every time I think about blogging I come up with a new idea! I know all the things I am interested in writing about and sharing but I would also love to know what you want to see/read! Of course I will be updating with new photos as the weeks go by but what other information would be beneficial to you? Comment on this post or send me an email telling me (marianne@mariannewilson.net)and we will see what we can do.

Also, if any of you Arizonians are wanting a photo session I am actually going to be coming into town This Wednesday Evening/Thursday morning and I have 1 spot open to shoot. Senior session? Engagement Session? Trash the Dress? You name it! I am excited for my new couples I am meeting while I am out there and happy to make time to grab a bite or coffee with any of my current AZ couples. So just hit me up and we will get together!

Rock the Dress: Denise + Luis

The other day I got to go along with the lovely Miss Charise and Jen for a gorgeous "Rock the Dress" (aka Trash the dress or Day After Session) in Camarillo and Malibu. I cannot say enough how much I love doing Rock the Dress sessions. It is a fab way to get some stunning and fun images in your wedding dress since there isn't always time for extensive wedding photos the day of, plus you can go almost anywhere!

We started off at the park in Camarillo where Denise and Luis had their first kiss (on the same benches!).

We then headed to Malibu (Leo Carrillo beach) for some fun on the side of the road and some gorgeous locations during sunset.

Thanks to the amazing Charise for inviting me along, I love shooting with these gals!

Family Session: Brianne, Kate, and Paul

If I had to sum up this family in one word it would be precious. They are such a fun bunch and we had a fantastic time shooting in Paramount Ranch just a few weeks ago. If you remember awhile ago Ip osted a photo from Brianne's Maternity session that we did in downtown Moorpark a little over a year ago. Well here is the newest addition to the family, Kate (or katezilla).

If you have small ones you know what a challenge it can be to take photos with them. That is one of the reasons I love going to locations like Paramount Ranch or other parks where they can run around on the lawn and have a great time while getting some photos of their unique and fun little personalities.

Wedding Bliss: Karin + David

So I have been thinking a lot about how to write Karin and David's blog post. I do not typically write a whole lot about my clients because I often sound cheesy and end up gushing about how much I loved shooting their wedding and engagement session and how rad they are. These are all true things! I constantly fall in love with their stories and lives and have such a great time spending those incredibly important moments with them.

It is no different for Karin and David. I was so impressed by how happily they let me into their lives and wanted me to be apart (as much as I could) so that I knew them and we were all comfortable together. Karin is such a strong and amazing woman who is battling cancer at the moment. She planned her whole wedding while pushing to get through her chemo sessions. That takes a lot of willpower, strength, and patience! She managed to do all this and look stunning at the same time.

Their wedding was such a awesome celebration of their love and joining of families you could see the joy bursting out of them (after you got past all the wedding day stresses of course!). They were able to have their wedding at a gorgeous family home in Somis California that sat on Lemon orchards. Incredible. The wedding was casual and lively and it was so great to see the mix of the traditional wedding events with the spontaneous (like swimming!).

After their wedding David, Karin, and myself got to spend a little more time together for a quick "Bride and Groom" session in the orchards. I was continually amazed by how much love they had for each other and how much it showed even after an extremely long day.

The cake topper got knocked off the cake and the only thing that broke were the heads of the bride and groom! Karin and David laughed it off and said that it was "so them". See why I love this couple??

And we ended with dipping out tootsies in the pool after a long day of celebrating!

Hello my little blog.

I am about to run out for some more errands but I wanted to quickly post some photos from last weekends wedding with the lovely Charise. I love when I have a free day where I can go out and 2nd shoot. Like I've said before, it's good for my creativity to be able to just shoot without worrying that I captured every photo needed.

I think tea length is a great way to go if you're a little on the spunky side and for warmer weather. I absolutely love all the options. I am recovering from an exhausting but amazing weekend. I pushed myself today and got two awesome sessions edited. This is the first of those two.

Matt and Jana are nothing short of incredible. They really listened to all the advice I gave them and their photos turned out beautifully. It was a perfect mix of my photographic style and their artistic and fun personalities. I simply cannot wait for their September 19th wedding at Maravilla Gardens in Camarillo. We started their engagement session at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills and then headed off to some hiking trails in Thousand Oaks.

When I go into a session I have a pretty good understanding of what I am going to do and how I am going to interact. I don't let this idea clash with the natural flow of the day though. With Jessica and Daniel's engagement session I scoped out the area we decided on the day before (Downtown Phoenix) and then let their personalities take over the session. One thing I loved about this couple was their incredible energy and contagious smiles! I could tell they were so in love with each other and life just by spending the afternoon with them. I cannot wait for their wedding next year in Phoenix.

Dear Mom,

Thank you for being you. Thank you for your unconditional love. Thank you for your incredible patience. Thank you for supporting me 110% no matter what I wanted to be. When I wanted to be a ballerina you took me to dance classes. When I was 15 and wanted to be an actress you let me move from my protected private school to the local Charter performing arts school. When we had to move back to Arizona from California you searched for a school that would nurture my creativity, this is where I discovered my love of photography. You let me paint my bedroom walls with stripes and murals, you knew that dying my hair pink (and green and blue and red) didn't change who I was inside.

A few years later you supported my dream as I went on to College at an Art School. You trusted that I would continue to be me in the face of all the temptation that was ahead at college.

Mom, you let me grow up and be who I am which makes me all the more great full I had you as my mother. Although I am still growing up I am, and will continue to be, your little girl.

I love you mom.
